Long week ahead

This week, I will be:

Working from 7:30am to 10:30 pm on Monday

Working 6:00am to 5:00 pm on Tuesday (with a voice lesson thrown in over my lunch hour) and then driving to Chicago that night

Spending the day Wednesday in Chicago at Roosevelt University

Driving back to DSM Wednesday night

Working 8 - 2 Thursday

Flying out of DSM Thursday afternoon and arriving in Newark, NJ at 11:00pm that night

Renting a car and driving down to Princeton that same night

Staying somewhere (HoJo? Roadside murder/hooker motel? Backseat of the car?) that night and auditioning at Westminster Choir College the next morning

Driving back up to Newark Friday afternoon and flying out to Chicago that evening

Auditioning at Roosevelt on Saturday morning

Then.....either painting the town red with my dear Celia, or possibly collapsing on her sleeper sofa and DYING. And then flying back to DSM on Sunday afternoon.

Hi.

I contemplated a couple of different pun titles for this post (the first in 9 months):

Blogain

No more broken blogmises

If at first you don't succeed, blog blog again

But then I realized that was horrible, and decided to just say hi instead.

I am at a crazy weird busy point in my life and need something to motivate and keep me on the ball so that I don't end up letting my innate laziness spoil my dreams for the fairly near future, AKA going to graduate school. So I'm going to try and start keeping a more regular record of what I'm up to on this blog, and encouraging more friends and family members to read it, in hopes that someone, anyone, might help hold me accountable.

Thanks in advance.

Vintage Hip!

My dear friends Maren and Dena just listed some awesome new vintage finds on their Etsy shop, Vintage Hip...check them out!

And if the body/hair on one of the models looks strangely familiar...it's because it's ME! Hahaha.

In other news...this is so cute.

The way it's going to be

Okay, so, I haven't been posting much...at all.

This is largely due to the fact that one of my original intentions in creating this blog - besides providing a way for family and friends to keep up with me en masse - was to have a well-thought-out, clever, endearing sort of blog in the vein of several of my dear friends :)

However, my hectic schedule and my growing suspicion that I am afflicted with adult ADD (only half kidding) have prevented me from taking the time to sit down and write the sort of writerly, charming, and/or image laden blog posts I envisioned.

Also, I've found that the times I usually FEEL like blogging are either when I'm stressed and need an outlet, or when I'm going a million miles a minute and have exciting news/thoughts/whatever that I need to share right then and there.

SO...I guess the point is that I just wanted to warn you that I will probably be posting more, but much of my posting may be more stream-of-consciousness and small news-bite-y in style.

I will still work on getting some writerly and/or fun to look at posts on here :)

My bro is famous!

...ha ha, not really...but West Point did just put a picture of him on the front page of their website! Check it out at www.usma.edu (note - I don't know how long they'll have it up, so my apologies if it's gone by the time you see this!)

Also, my apologies for not blogging regularly :/

EDIT: You can still see the picture, it's just one link back from the home page. Click on the "view current and recent homepage photos" link and scroll down to the one labeled "Happy Valentine's Day" :)

Epic win: Michelle Obama at inaugural balls

While I don't mean to downplay the inspirational and historic moment yesterday when Barack Obama officially became our country's new president, I just had to comment on how lovely the beautiful Michelle Obama looked at the (10!!!) inaugural balls last night:

While Barack looked very nice, I thought Michelle's gown (by 26-year-old up-and-coming designer Jason Wu) was just to die for on her. I marvel at the fact that in a few photos I saw, her husband, a.k.a. the 47-year-old leader of the free world, looked like a dorky high school prom date in comparison to her. She was just stunning!
